Photo-Etched Lapel Pins
These pins start with a photographic negative which is transferred onto the surface of the metal. Then your designed is etched into the brass using an acid-reaction process. The acids are carefully rinsed off.
The indentations of the pin are filled with enamel colors. The colors are filled by hand, one at a time, using syringes.
The pin is then kiln-fired. The non-colored (raised) sections of the pins are plated to a shiny gold finish. An epoxy coating can be added to protect the colors if desired.
